Secret Doctrine by Blavatskaya is a fun and quite formidable (over 1000 pages) work of fiction. According to her we are already in the 5th root race and seventh sub-race is now evolving.

Here's a fun one. What if 1 point of existence is being manipulated, and logically sorted into a ridiculous number of progressively complex dimensional ranges, that it is capable of self interacting on such levels that it accounts for everything we have.

I was thinking about that as I was following my roommate down our apartment stairs, and for a brief instance I was overcome with this overwhelming 'madness', and I couldn't stop laughing.

My roommate did not find it funny when I told him about it later.
But boy did that trippy episode feel good.

I have resurfaced only to give my prediction, then I will disappear again...

On December 21, 2012, the Earth's magnetic poles will flip, causing a brief window of opportunity for some damaging solar winds to break through and smack us around a little. This will raise the temperature everywhere during the day by about 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit, causing forest fires on the equator and in some southern hemisphere regions, but that isn't the worst part. Many of our electronic devices, especially satellites, will outright fail as if hit by an EMP. This will cause mass panic, and increased aggression and riots because of the intense heat.

The magnetic field will only fluctuate for a few days, and will be right back up to the way it is now, but leave behind it chaos and [mild] destruction. Not that many people will die, perhaps a million at the most, but it will take another few years to repair the damage that will occur.

But, yeah, don't hold me to it. Unless it really happens that way. In that case, I told ya so.

This is quite an optimistic prognosis you have there :P

If it does happen, the change in temperature you describe might disrupt the thermohaline circulation and ignite the next ice age.

I once said the odds of extraterrestrial beings flying around and visiting us, were as unlikely as two customers who only visit a store once over the course of 10 years bumping into each other.
Universe is very big and very old, and intelligent species able to make technology necessary to interact with each other, might not exist on the same level for long.
